Michigan: Active shooter taken down at Wayne church

On Sunday morning, June 22, during a worship service at the CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan, a 31-year-old man attempted a mass shooting of the congregation; however, thankfully, because of the heroic efforts of some parishioners and staff, a disaster was averted.

Reports say Brian Anthony Browning from Romulus, Michigan, wearing a tactical vest and as police described: armed with an AR-15 style rifle with more than a dozen fully loaded magazines, a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine and "hundreds of rounds of ammunition."

It ended when a security guard for the church shot and killed the man.

A motive is unknown. He did not have a criminal history or any previous contacts with the Wayne Police Department.

Jon Miltmore, Senior Editor at AIER, wrote the following important statement about this at the Washington Examiner:

We’ll never know how many lives were saved, but the episode evidences what gun control advocates often forget: Firearms prevent countless crimes every day in the United States.

Defensive gun use deters crime and prevents it. Precisely how many crimes are stopped every year through defensive gun use is unknown, but the most cited academic study estimates 2.5 million instances of defensive gun use every year in the U.S. — 6,700 every day.

The Heritage Foundation, which tracks confirmed cases of firearms used in self-defense, says the number could be even higher.

The church released the following statements the day after and a week after:
