Elizabeth Warren tweets about 'appalling disregard for Palestinian lives', formerly praised Madeline Albright as 'powerful champion for human rights'

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren went to X on Thursday to say:

When it comes to military aid to Israel, the U.S. cannot write a blank check for a right-wing government that's demonstrated an appalling disregard for Palestinian lives. The U.S. should use all the tools at its disposal to condition aid & move the parties toward a lasting peace.

I'm not here to give an opinion on Israel's actions, but to point out Lizzie's total inconsistency when it comes to lives lost in a war situation.

I am old enough to remember when Lesley Stahl interviewed then US Ambassador to the UN, Madeline Albright in 1996 on 60 Minutes when Albright said the following appalling answer to a question:

“We have heard that half a million [Iraqi] children have died. I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima,” asked Stahl, “And, you know, is the price worth it?”

“I think that is a very hard choice,” Albright answered, “but the price, we think, the price is worth it.”

This was the result of years of economic sanctions by the US. And yes, sanctions are certainly an act of war.

In fact, Phyllis Bennis writes: Over the past 30-plus years, roughly beginning with the 1990 – 1991 Gulf crisis and U.S.-led war against Iraq, Washington’s imposition of harsh economic sanctions has vastly expanded. Whether imposed directly or compelled by the United Nations under U.S. pressure, sanctions are often described as an “alternative” to war — softer, less deadly, more humane.

In fact, sanctions often kill more civilians than the wars they accompany and sometimes deliberately target the most vulnerable.

Okay, back to Lizzie...

When Madeline Albright, the one that said the death of half -a-million Iragi children was "worth it", died in 2022, Sen. Warren said the following:

"...She was a powerful champion for human rights and democracy, and she inspired generations of future leaders.

Lizzie, was that not an appalling disregard for Iraqi lives?
